Free online utility audits for organisations aim to provide balance in gas electric and telecoms procurement

Released: 23rd April 2008

Publisher: Utility Watch

"We aim to level the playing field after the horrendous recent price hikes," Greg Shepherd, Utility Watch.

"There is a need to inject balance into commercial telecoms, gas and electricity procurement," Lance Pearson, Managing Director, Utility Watch.

Portsmouth UK, 23.04.08; Utility Watch (www.utilitywatch.co.uk) has launched a free, online, price-comparison audit service for organisations willing to email over copies of their gas, electric and telecoms bills as part of their procurement process.

Utility Watch consultants will analyse the bills, in detail, comparing not just the rates charged for commercial telecoms, gas and electricity supplies but other price influences too; such as type or term of contract together with promotions available for those willing to switch. Potential savings could be as much as 25% on typical commercial gas and electric bills, in comparison to renewal prices and up to 40% on telecoms. Participants will be given detailed independent advice on what to choose including information on the best way to switch.

Utility Watch, which already provides a free online comparative quote service via its website, says that those organisations who have been struck by the potential savings from using the online quotation tool will want to look at their options in depth but often lack the in-house expertise to optimise their review.

Says Lance Pearson, Managing Director of Utility Watch, "There was pent up demand for an in depth service that could inject balance into the procurement strategies of organisations. Whilst providing headline comparative quotes to organisations is a useful guide, the devil is often in the detail. As the advice we provide is independent, we felt that to go that extra mile and walk organisations through their bills and decision making processes was a good idea."

Greg Shepherd, of Utility Watch added, "There are so many ways that prices can be distorted that mere headline, unit by unit comparisons only tell part of the story. Things were bad enough before but with the recent spate of horrendous price hikes, we feel it is only fair to level the playing field and to do this we often need to drill down into the detail and take a holistic view."

Organisations interested in the free audit service should email their bills to audit@utilitywatch.co.uk or call 0800 652 5100.
